How to record harmonies with yourself

Restore Howli Unlimited

If you have already purchased Howli Unlimited but the app asks you to upgrade:

  1. Check that you are using the same store account as when you bought it: your Apple Account on iPhone or Google Account on Android.
  2. Open the Howli Unlimited purchase screen in Howli.
  3. Tap Restore Purchases.

If your access is already active, use Manage Howli Unlimited in Howli. You can also manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple or Google Play, depending on where you purchased. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase.

If your access still does not appear, email us so we can help.

Import a song code

A Howli song code contains the arrangement, without audio or video recordings.

  1. Copy the complete Howli song code shared with you.
  2. Open Choose a song and paste it into Add Song Code.
  3. Check the song preview, then tap Sing it.

If the code is not accepted, check that you copied the whole code without surrounding text. Ask the sender for a fresh copy if needed.

To make your own song, write notes and lyrics in Howli on iPhone or Android, or use the free browser song editor.

Free practice and sharing

Free practice includes a daily recording allowance. If you reach it, Howli shows when you can record again. Howli Unlimited removes this limit. Freestyle has unlimited free practice on iPhone and Android.

On iPhone and Android, In the Bleak Mid-Winter has four free sections and an extended ending included with Howli Unlimited. You can review and share the first four sections for free. Recording the last four sections requires active monthly, yearly or lifetime Unlimited access.

You can still review, save, export and share your existing takes if you reach the daily allowance or Unlimited ends. Songs you write from scratch in Howli have unlimited free practice on the device where you created them.

Recordings and permissions

If Howli cannot access your microphone or camera, check its permissions in your phone's Settings. You can sing without recording camera video.

Your saved recordings stay on your device. Export any performances you want to keep before deleting the app. Read more in our privacy policy.
